Mary Sweere – CEO
Mary brings to the table a decade of experience in management consulting for AT&T, US West and later with Deloitte Consulting focused on strategy and financial processes as well as 5 years in Private Equity. Throughout her career, Mary has been instrumental in setting up the underlying systems and controls for effective running of the businesses. During the most recent 5 years, Mary was part of a team that set up a Private Equity boutique, acting as COO. She is now able to use these skills to lead Chip Chip in operations as well as securing equity and debt financing in order to roll out further operations. Mary is responsible for securing and managing the long term wood contract (on take agreement) for the business as well as the overall strategy for the direction of the company, guiding an ever-growing team and client base. Along with her experience, Mary has a BA in Economics as well as an advanced degree MIA in Macro Economics from Columbia University.
Fergal Murtagh – Managing Director of Strong Energy
Fergal runs the market leading biomass boiler supplier and installer Strong Energy. Through subsidiary company Wood Energy, the Group has over 150Mw of installed boiler capacity in the UK market. Strong Energy owns the exclusive UK distribution rights for Hargassner and Binder boilers. The Strong Energy team work closely with Chip Chip in delivering service and maintenance contracts and in providing a sales channel to sell woodchip to their existing customer base.
Fergal previously worked for the Kingspan Group in numerous roles, holds a B.Comm degree from University College Dublin and a Masters in Business Studies from the Smurfit Graduate Business School in Dublin.
Jeff Tomlinson - Director of Strong Energy, the parent company of Wood Energy
Having spent over 22 years as Business Development Director at Kingspan Plc, one of the world’s largest Building Products Groups, Jeff honed his skills of successfully writing and resourcing business strategies, brand building, as well as recruiting key personnel. Has a ‘positive attitude with extensive technical and commercial skills. Proven high quality sales skills and the ability to develop loyal customer relationships that consistently deliver results.
Jeff has spent extensive time in Europe, particularly Germany, where he was the leader of the due-diligence team which acquired the Kingspan Tek Buiding System. He also secured the exclusive UK rights of several key manufacturers and has launched several game changing products in his career.
In addition, Jeff has lived, worked and travelled the whole of the USA and Canada where he rolled out a Nationwide Registered Installer network of Solar Thermal installers.
The sales of ChipChip wood fuels are being developed ‘hand in glove’ with Wood Energy Ltd (also owned by Strong Energy Solutions Ltd) and the Chip Chip sales team (also co-owned by Strongs). Wood Energy has over 150Mw of installed boilers in the UK. Jeff has moved over from Wood Energy to work full time as a head of sales at Chip Chip and has brought with him telesales experts who have detailed and in-depth industry knowledge.
Chip Chip has already secured and will continue to secure numerous long term contracts under Jeff’s leadership.
Catherine S. Tezcan Non-Executive Director
As Non-Executive Director, Catherine provides entrepreneurial leadership for the organization on issues pertaining to strategy, risk management, financial performance and executive staffing. Catherine is committed to maximizing company value, ensuring a balanced portfolio of growth initiatives and maintaining a high level of integrity and transparency.
She has a long track record in key finance positions. As Finance Director of one of the first Western radio groups in Eastern Europe and Russia, Catherine managed the finance function across 6 subsidiary companies from their European headquarters in Austria and led the finance function through the ultimate sale of the company. Later, Catherine was a founding partner launching innovative music and radio services in the Netherlands, whereby leading market position for the start-up stations was achieved in one of the most mature, settled markets in Europe.
American born and educated, she has an MBA and Bachelor’s degree in Finance and has worked and lived the past 20+ years in Europe
